ST MICHAEL'S HOSPITAL DENIES RUMOURS

The Management of the Saint Michael’s Catholic Hospital at Pramso in the Bosomtwe district of Ashanti has denied rumours that the facility no longer provides services to National Health Insurance Card bearers.

The Administrator of the Hospital, Kwame Amoateng, told Ashanti Today that information circulating in the public claiming that NHIS subscribers who have chosen the hospital under the capitation programme are being denied medical care as a result of the National Health Insurance Authority’s indebtedness to the facility.

The Administrator admitted that the NHIA owes the Hospital more than one million Ghana Cedis in ClaimS for services provided from May to September this year.

However, the facility’s management has not taken any decision regarding whether or not to discontinue rendering services to NHIS Card bearers. He therefore asked the public, particularly, NHIS members, to disregard the false information and continue to seek healthcare at the Saint Michael’s Catholic Hospital without any fear.
