NDC WOMEN ORGANIZER IN ACCIDENT
The
Branch Women Organizer of the NDC at Asawasi in Kumasi, Hajia Hawa, who
was knocked down by a taxi cab at Akomadan is said to be in a stable
condition and responding very well to medical treatment.
She has been referred from the Nkenkanso Government Hospital in the
Offinso North district of Ashanti to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.
Hajia Hawa was knocked down at about
12.30 pm yesterday at Offinso where the NDC was
holding its mini Ashanti Regional Congress to elect the new Regional
Youth Organizer and the Regional Women's Organizer to herald the main
Regional Delegates Congress scheduled for next week.
An eye witness told Ashanti Today
in an interview that Madam Hawa was crossing over from one end of the
main Kumasi-Techman highway to the Akomadan Senior High School, where
the mini congress was taking place when she was knocked down by a taxi
cab.
She was then rushed to the Nkenkanso Hospital for emergency mediacl
attention where but was later transferred to the KATH where she is reported to be in a stable condition.
Meanwhile,
in the keenly contested race for the Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer
position of the NDC, a member of the Government's Communications Team,
Ernest Brogya Gemfi polled 80 out of the 133 votes cast to unseat the
incumbent, Anthony Kwaku Boahen, who had 50 of the votes.
One Osman
Alhassan polled 76 votes to become the new Deputy Ashanti Regional Youth
Organizer.
In the race for the Regional Women Organizer, the incumbent,
Madam Ama Sarpomaa was also defeated by one Hajia Saddique.
