GRAPHIC MD DISLIKES ME-KENU
The
dismissed Ashanti Regional Editor of the Graphic Communications Group ltd,
(GCGL) Daniel Kenu, has blamed the Managing Director of his former employer for his
dismissal.
Mr.
Kenu was handed a dismissal letter by the management of GCGL two days ago for
what the employers consider to be a ‘gross misconduct and disloyal to the
company’ for unilaterally backing out of a criminal case at a Kumasi Circuit
Court about two months ago.
The
employers, led by the MD, Kenneth Ashigbey, had vowed to pursue a criminal case
against the senior brother of Ghana’s Black Stars captain, Baffuor Gyan for
allegedly physically assaulting Mr. Kenu.
Mr.
Kenu had sought to find out the where about of an ace Ghanaian musician friend
of Asamoah Gyan, Castro, at a news Conference a day ahead of Ghana’s AFCON
match against the Cranes of Uganda at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
However,
on the third hearing of the matter, Mr. Kenu told the Court presided over by
Mr. William Boampong to strike out the case because he (Kenu, the Prosecuting
witness) was no longer interested to continue the matter.
Incidentally,
it was the first time that the MD, who had traveled from Accra with a lawyer,
was attending the hearing.
His
presence was to give assurance of the support of the company to Mr. Kenu to
pursue the case to its logical conclusion.
In
fact, it was Mr. Kenu who reportedly met the MD and the company lawyer on
arrival at the Kumasi Airport and led them to the office but could not hint
them of his intentions about the court case.
The
bemused MD could not even grant media interview after the court struck out the
case while Mr. Kenu looked annoyed when journalists tried to interview him
about his action.
In
a number of media interviews granted a section of the media, Mr. Kenu indicated
that the MD had clearly shown that he actually influenced the dismissal
decision for no apparent reasons.
Mr.
Kenu said he has been punished twice, after the assault against him and now his
dismissal by the employers saying that he does not where he has gone wrong that
should necessitate his dismissal.
He
said his next line of action would depend on what advice he is provided by
those around him.
What do you also think about Mr. Kenu's dismissal?
