BOY, 15, TRAPPED TO DEATH BY FIRE

A 15-year old boy named only as Kwadwo, has been burnt to death in bush fire at Konkoma in the Bosomtwe district of Ashanti.

Two other boys of the same age were however able to escape but with severe body burns and are in critical conditions are currently receiving medical treatment at a local Clinic.

The Bosomtwe District Chief Executive, Madam Veronica Antwi Agyei, who confirmed this to Ashanti Today in Kumasi noted that the body of the deceased who is a son of the Constituency Organizer of the NDC, Alhaji Addai Minkah, has been deposited at the Saint Michael’s Catholic Hospital’s Mortuary at Pramso.

A consideration is being given for the transfer of the injured persons to the same Hospital for specialist care.

Madam Antwi Agyei explained that the deceased and the survivors last Wednesday were trying to quench wild fire that had engulfed the father’s cocoa farms at Konkoma.

They were trapped by the fire and but two of them managed to escape but Kwadwo was unable to flee and died on the farm.

According to the DCE, the fire, which was first detected and doused by personnel from the Fire Service and NADMO about two weeks ago,  rekindled destroying large acreage of crop and cocoa farms spanning three communities.

It was when the boy Kwadwo detected that his father’s farm had caught the fire that he and the two other boys tried to put it off before any serious damage could be caused during.

It was in doing so that he met his untimely death.
