YEA EMPLOYEES TO RCEIVE ARREAARS THIS MONTH

Employees under the Youth Employment Agency, YEA, are to receive their six month Allowance in full by the end of this month.

Already, government advanced to them three months Allowance at their resumption of duties to ease the economic difficulties that new employees usually face upon their employment.

The Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Andy Osei Okrah, made this known in Kumasi at the first ever Regional YEA Beneficiaries Durbar.

The durbar, one of the planned regional events for beneficiaries of the YEA nationwide to commemorate 10 years of the creation of the Agency, was on the theme: “Empowering the Youth through Job Creation”.

Mr. Okrah blamed the delay in the monthly payment of the YEA employees’ Allowances on certain administrative processes as well as challenges mainly related to hooking them to the E-Zwich electronic payment module which is time-consuming.

The Deputy Regional Minister assured that the processes have been almost completed for the employees to be paid and therefore urged them to remain committed to their work.

Mr. Okrah asked them to bring to bear on their work such positive virtues as diligence and hard work while adding value to themselves to enhance their employability so as to improve their chances of absorption into the public service on completion of their two-year internship.

The Human Resource Manager of the YEA, Selasie Atikpovi, said plans are being made to expand the number of modules of the programme which will also lead to the increase in the number of people to be engaged.

Already, YEA is in the process of employing about 100 thousand unemployed youth under the various modules.

Mr. Atikpovi asked the beneficiaries to be ready to learn on the job through respect for their experienced bosses and also in humility.

The Ashanti Regional Director of the YEA, Robert Mensah, disclosed that about eight thousand youth have so far being engaged under the various modules.

These include Arabic Teachers, Community Police Assistants, Prison Assistants, Fire Service Assistants, Community Health, Environmental Protection and Environmental Health.
