SEVEN ARRESTED IN NPP RAMPUS, OTHERS DECLARED WANTED

The Police in Ashanti region have arrested five persons including the Asawase Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Isaac Brenya, in connection with murder of a 30-year old man, Abubakar Sadiq. 

Sadiq was stabbed to death last Friday during a scuffle that ensued between factions within the party in that constituency in Kumasi. 

The others arrested are Awal Musah, Louis Mensah, Zakaria Seidu and Hajia Wasila Gariba. 

They have been formally charged with conspiracy to commit murder and murder.

Announcing this at a news conference in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye disclosed also that three others are in Police custody and charged with vandalism and stealing of assets from the Asawase Constituency office of the NPP.

 They are Mallam Immurana, Tanko Abubakar and Awal Mohammed. 


The Police have as well declared 10 other persons believed to be involved in the Asawase incident wanted and are being pursued for arrest. 




 They included the prime suspect, Duna suspected to have stabbed Sadiq leading to his instant death. 

The rest are Issah Osman, the Constituency Youth Organizer, Ali Issah also known as Liboo and Million. 

The others are Bigman, M.C., Baba Fuseini, Bera, Sadat and Paapa. 

The Regional Commander warned that anyone found to be keeping any of the wanted persons declared wanted will be prosecuted. 

DCOP Kofi Boakye however cleared one ’50 Cents’ of any connection with the incident. 

The Police have also retrieved the knife allegedly used by the perpetrators to kill the man to be used as an exhibit in the prosecution.

 DCOP Kofi Boakye said in view of the nature of the crime, the case has been transferred from the Airport Police District to the office of the Regional Commander under the supervision of the Regional Officer.

 He warned that the case is being handled without any political, sectional or ethnic consideration and warned politicians to be prepared to bear responsibility for their actions and or inactions.   

Meanwhile, the body of the late Sadiq has been handed over to the family for burial which took place yesterday.
