NDC CONDEMNS UNWARRANTED MEDIA ATTACK

Samed Akalilu-Regional Communications Officer

The Ashanti Regional branch of the ruling NDC has expressed serious reservations about reports in a section of the media trying to link the party to the current criminal happenings within the Asawase Constituency of the opposition NPP.

Last Friday, a misunderstanding among some members of the NPP in the Asawase Constituency in the Ashanti region resulted in the suspected stabbing and eventual murder of a 37-year old party faithful, Abubakar Sadiq.

No arrest has been made so far. However, a statement signed and issued by the Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the NDC, Samed Akalilu noted with concern, that the party has been linked to the unfortunate incident by a section of the media by alleging that a member of the NDC actually stabbed Sadiq during the fracas.

The statement described the publication as malicious, vicious and misleading.

It said those behind the publication have failed to name the said NDC member and therefore described the speculation as a subtle attempt to equalize the criminal incident.

The statement said the rumour comes in the wake of another false and failed claim by the NPP that the Ahafo Ano North Constituency Chairman of the NDC had been killed during a misunderstanding in that Constituency.

It stated emphatically that the party’s checks in the Asawase Constituency have failed to link the NDC to the heinous crime.

It condemned the suspected murder of Mr. Sadiq and urged the Police to do all it can to bring the perpetrators to book.
