GLOTAF DONATES TO KSI PRISONS
The Chaplain of the Kumasi Central
Prisons, Reverend Canon Emmanuel Paa Kwesi Ansah, has expressed concern about
the total neglect of the inmates by their families and friends.
He noted that
the inmates need the support of such people in those difficult times than any
other period.
Rev. Canon Ansah made the observation in Kumasi when he received
on behalf of the Prisons three hundred devotional guides and three hundred
Bibles worth 10 thousand Ghana Cedis to inmates of the Kumasi Central Prisons.
The presentation of the Christian literature was the contribution of the Global
Transformational Agents Foundation, GloTAF, a Christian non-profit making
organization in Ghana in collaboration with the Scripture Union towards
reformation of the Prison inmates.
It was under the auspices of the Community
and Human Transformation Department of the organization and also in line with
the 150th Anniversary Celebration of the Scripture Union, which is
being observed globally this year, with focus on evangelistic visits to
prisons.
Inmates of two other facilities in the country are expected to benefit
from the yearlong project this year.
The Kumasi Central Prison now has one
thousand 741 male and thirty five female inmates.
Reverend Canon Ansah noted that in previous
years, most of the inmates through periodic study of the Bible had turned new
leaves prior to their release from prison adding that, they had joined churches
and Christian fellowships of their interest.
He appealed to families of the
inmates not to abandon them but should show compassion through prayers and
regular visits to encourage and make them feel a part of the society.
He thanked GloTAF for the donation. Making
the presentation, the Chief Executive Officer of GloTAF, Apostle Micheal
Adu-Carol explained that the word of God is basically the hope of humanity
including prison inmates, who need it as a tool for effective reformation, by
diligently studying and practicing what it teaches to ultimately renew their
mindsets.
Apostle Micheal Adu-Carol also appealed for support from the media,
society and corporate organizations both in kind and in cash, to further push
the organization in its quest to transform society through voluntary and
patriotic services.
