PREZ NOMINEE CONFIRMED AS AAS DCE

   Members of the Asante Akyem South District Assembly in Ashanti have confirmed 37 year old Alexander Frimpong as the District Chief Executive. 

He polled 62 out of the 63 votes.

 Mr. Frimpong, a native of Asante Akyem Obogu, is currently pursuing his PhD in the United States. 

The Election was supervised by the Asante Akyem South District Electoral Officer.

 In his acceptance speech, Mr. Frimpong called or the support and cooperation of all the interest groups, particularly the Assembly Members who he urged to prioritize development of the district rather than their political parties. 

He thanked the Assembly Members for confirming his nomination by President Akufo-Addo and promised to work hard to speed up socio-economic progress of the district.

JUTE FACTORY IS BACK

the administrative block under rehabilitation At long last, the much talked about defunct GIHOC Fibre manufacturing Company popularly known as the Jute Factory, is to be back in operations very soon.  Ashanti Today can confirm that work is feverishly ongoing towards the revival of the once golden sacks manufacturing company with the first production expected in the first quarter of next year.  It is a public-private partnership with a wholly Ghanaian company, Jute Mills Ghana Limited being the operator and has already sunk about five million Ghana Cedis to revamp the company.  The Jute Factory is located within the industrial area of Kaase.  It has been on divestiture for about 20 years now with successive governments paying lip-service to revamp it.   The old machinery at main factory to be replaced soon  It is one project that is dear to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu, who has used almost every opportunity with bus...

FULANIS IN REPRISAL ATTACK-AGOGO DCE SUSPECTS

The Asante Akyem North District Security Council is to petition the Ashanti Regional Security Council, REGSEC, to as a matter of urgency, provide the necessary support to the DISEC to effectively tackle what it considers as a new phenomenon of crime wave emerging within the Afram Plains portion of the district.  The DISEC suspects that some of the aggrieved nomadic herdsmen who have been driven out of the district in recent security operations are embarking on a suspected reprisal attack on the residents by killing and maiming them.  Speaking to Ashanti Today in Kumasi after an emergency DISEC meeting at Agogo today , Monday February 29 , the Chairman of the DISEC, Paul Averu, who is also the District Chief Executive, said the two latest murder cases recorded at Abrewanko, one of the communities in the Plains, has not been linked to activities of the cattle.  On the other hand, the unidentified assailants are believed to be Fulani herdsmen who at separat...
