2ND BATCH OF MDCEs IN ASHANTI SWORN-IN AS ALIDU GETS THE NOD

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, has sworn-in the second batch of fourteen DCEs bringing the total number of sworn-in DCEs in the region to 23 so far. The DCEs sworn in are for Adansi South, Afigya Kwabre, Asante Akim North, Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipal Assembly, Ahafo Ano North and South.

The rest are Amansie West, Obuasi Municipal, Sekyere Central, Atwima Mponua, Sekyere Afram Plains, Sekyere Kumawu and Amansie Central.  Led by the Regional Minister, they took the Oath of Allegiance, Oath of Secrecy and the Official Oath.

Mr. Osei Mensah congratulated the new DCEs and tasked them to tackle challenges bedeviling their districts such as environmental degradation especially illegal mining head on.

The Regional Minister asked them to assume office immediately in order to implement the President’s vision for the country.

Mr. Osei Mensah again charged them not to be too partisan in the discharge of their duties but seek counsel of traditional authorities and key stakeholders to enable them meet the expectations of their districts.

He reminded them that the President selected them to serve the people and not to lord over them.

Meanwhile Alhaji Alidu Seidu has been endorsed as the Municipal Chief Executive for Asokore Mampong near Kumasi under an enhanced security presence.

All the 15 Assembly Members voted for him giving him a 100 percent approval. This is the second time Alhaji Alidu Seidu has had to be considered by the Municipal Assembly following his re-nomination by President Akuffo-Addo.

The Assembly Members outrightly rejected his earlier nomination when only seven out of the 15 members voted to endorse him about two weeks ago.

He could not have a second round of voting after failing to secure the minimum 50 percent of the votes.

Among the large crowd of people who witnessed the voting process were the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah and the immediate past Municipal Chief Executive, Hamdan Nurudeen who represented the MP for Asawase, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak, who is currently out of the country on official duties.
