SOLOMON KESSE SAILS THROUGH JUST AS AMOAH AWUKU

A former Offinso South Constituency Secretary of the NPP, Solomon Kesse, has been confirmed as the Offinso South Municipal Chief Executive by the Assembly Members at their meeting at Offinso.

Thirty out of the 42 Assembly Members voted in his favour with the remaining 12 voting ‘No’ giving him a 71 per cent endorsement.

The voting process was supervised by a Deputy Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Lawrence Sarpong and witnessed by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, the Paramount Chief of Offinso, Nana Wiafe Akenten as well as the Offinso South MP, Abdulla Banda.

Mr. Osei Mensah asked the MCE to unite the Assembly Members regardless of how they voted so as to get their support in his bid to speed up socio-economic development of the Municipality.

Mr. Kesse should as well ensure equitable distribution of available resources and development among the communities and stakeholders within the municipality.

In a related development, the President’s nominee as the Atwima Nwabiagya District Chief Executive in Ashanti, Michael Amoah Awuku had to endure a second round of voting during the District Assembly’s meeting to secure the position he had been nominated for.

In the first round of voting, the nominee failed to secure the minimum two-thirds majority even though he obtained 38 of the votes cast as 19 of the Assembly Members voted ‘No’ against him. In the second round however, Mr. Awuku got 42 of the 53 votes with 11 still voting against his nomination.

The election was supervised by District officials of the EC.
