THREE BURNT TO DEATH AT KSI SANTASI

Three persons, including one of the candidates writing the ongoing BECE, have been burnt to death in their home at Santasi in Kumasi.

They are 53-year old Madam Akosua Adwubi, a cooked rice seller, her 18-year old daughter, Ama Lydia who was to write her final Paper today in the ongoing BECE, as well as a 23-year old house help of the woman in her business, named only as Abena.

Their charred bodies have been sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital by the Police who are also investigating the actual cause of the incident.

It took the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Fire Station about an hour to completely put out the fire before the bodies could be retrieved from the remnants of the blaze.

The Caretaker of the house in question, Joe Kwakye, told Ashanti Today that Madam Adwubi and the two other deceased victims, hail from Mprim in the Asante Mampong Municipality.

According to Mr. Kwakye, Madam Adwubi and her House help were seen yesterday after close of the day’s business, while Ama Lydia was also seen in a frenzy after yesterday’s BECE Papers, claiming that she would make good grades.

Mr. Kwakye said the woman has stayed in the house for about 25 years without encountering any problem with co-tenants or the landlord. He said the fire was detected at about 1am today by a neigbour who then raised an alarm for help.

However, when the people came around to see what was really happening, the raging fire was so intense that nothing could be done to save the three occupants who were already locked up in the chamber of the apartment without any escape route.
