POLICE GO AFTER SUSPECTED KSI TORMENTORS


The Ashanti Regional Police Command has made arrest of some suspected armed robbers and on a manhunt for others, following a series of armed robberies executed recently within the metropolis during which some victims including a police officer were killed. 

The Deputy Regional Police Commander, ACP Osei Ampofo-Duku told journalists at a news briefing in Kumasi today that syndicated armed robbers, numbering about our groups are perpetrating these heinous crimes, within the metropolis. 

He made reference to the armed robbery attack at Open Space Guest House at Atwima Takyiman-Denchemuoso on the 19th of last month during which General Corporal Frank Essel of the Police SWAT Unit who happened to be at the facility, was shot and killed, the attack on Akomea Frimpong at Ahenema Kokoben New Site by armed robbers who shot and killed his younger brother, 33 year old Kwabena Akomea Frimpong on the 21st of last month and the armed robbery attack on one Joseph Baah Tweneboah at his residence at Abuotem New Site near Aputuogya, who was shot and killed after the robbery. 

ACP Ampofo-Duku said two suspects among a syndicated armed robbery group made up of eight persons have been arrested.

 They are one Alonso and Ama Serwaa. Six members of the group, Hamidu, Adepa, Solo, Baby Last, Killer and Bona, all residents of Kwadaso-Bolakesiem area and occasionally seen at Asafo BB are on the wanted list of the police.

ACP Ampofo Duku said the police are also on the heels of another syndicated armed robbery group made up of one Abdulai, Tofik and Kofi believed to be residents of Obuasi and Anwiankwanta. 

He mentioned a third group made up of Djallo Dzani of Ejisu, Azumah Yahaya from Wa, Mallam Lawyer from Chiraa and Sarakin who has been seen at Takyiman and Ejisu, all of whom are at large. 

ACP Ampofo-Duku said a fourth syndicated group is made up of one Mutala, a dismissed policeman suspected to be having in his possession an AK47 Assault rifle, Salou alias AK and Tanko, an ex-convict. 

He announced that four suspects have been arrested for allegedly supplying weapons to armed robbers. 

They are one Tonka, Azana Kassim alias 50 cents, Sulemana alias Keshi and Kwame Anao alias Indomie.
