NCCE INAUGURATES ASHANTI IPDC AHEAD OF ELECTION 2016

The Ashanti Regional Inter-Party Dialogue Committee, IPDC, has been inaugurated in Kumasi.

The committee will also have three sub-committees namely Education, Dispute and Security, and Justice and Security.

The Deputy Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education in charge of Administration, Josephine Nkrumah who swore in the IPDC said the public must bear in mind that Ghana is more important than any political party in the country and added her voice to the need for dialogue in solving every dispute especially those pertaining to politics and elections.

She also implored the IPDC to ensure that the youth are included in their activities as they are targeted by unscrupulous persons and politicians to cause problems in society.

The Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Nurudeen Haroun said since everyone wants to live peacefully, it is imperative for peace to be ensured before, during and after this year’s general elections.

A representative of the National Peace Council, Reverend Amoah Badu reminded Ghanaians and especially politicians to be mindful of their utterances and not hesitate to call on the IPDC to seek redress for sensitive issues.

He advised political parties to be advocates for peace, be truthful and abide by the rules and regulations for political parties.

Reverend Amoah Badu further called on the media to be circumspect in their reportage and avoid publishing sensitive stories.

Representatives from the various political parties promised on behalf of their parties to do their bit to ensure peace before, during and after the general elections.
