NCCE INAUGURATES ASHANTI IPDC AHEAD OF ELECTION 2016
The Ashanti Regional Inter-Party Dialogue Committee, IPDC, has been inaugurated in Kumasi.
The committee will also have
three sub-committees namely Education, Dispute and Security, and Justice and Security.
The Deputy Chairperson of the National
Commission for Civic Education in charge of Administration, Josephine Nkrumah
who swore in the IPDC said the public must bear in mind that Ghana is more
important than any political party in the country and added her voice to the
need for dialogue in solving every dispute especially those pertaining to
politics and elections.
She also implored the IPDC to ensure that the youth are
included in their activities as they are targeted by unscrupulous persons and
politicians to cause problems in society.
The Ashanti Regional Chief Imam,
Sheikh Nurudeen Haroun said since everyone wants to live peacefully, it is
imperative for peace to be ensured before, during and after this year’s general
elections.
A representative of the National Peace Council, Reverend Amoah Badu
reminded Ghanaians and especially politicians to be mindful of their utterances
and not hesitate to call on the IPDC to seek redress for sensitive issues.
He
advised political parties to be advocates for peace, be truthful and abide by
the rules and regulations for political parties.
Reverend Amoah Badu further called
on the media to be circumspect in their reportage and avoid publishing
sensitive stories.
Representatives from the various political parties promised
on behalf of their parties to do their bit to ensure peace before, during and
after the general elections.
