ASHANTI POLICE MAKE GAINS IN CRIME COMBACT

Two suspected armed robbers are in the grips of the Ashanti Regional Police Command. 

They are Ibrahim Amidu and Mohammed Abdulai, both Fulani herdsmen. 

They are alleged to have robbed some residents in Kumasi last month. 

Briefing journalists on their operations in Kumasi, Deputy Regional Police Commander, ACP Ampofo-Duku said on the 22nd of last month, the two, armed with AK 47 rifle, attacked and robbed a businessman and his family at gunpoint at Nkoransa New Site of nine mobile phones, a laptop and cash in the sum of 500 Ghana Cedis.

 Four days later, the accused persons attacked and robbed two occupants in a house at Adumasa near Brofoyedu and robbed them of a total of 550 Ghana Cedis. 

ACP Ampofo-Duku said the police upon information later arrested the accused persons. During an identification parade, Amidu and Abdulai were pointed out by the complainants in the two incidents.

 In another criminal case, ACP Ampofo-Duku said one Akwasi Boafo has been remanded into prison custody by a Kumasi Circuit Court for possessing 13 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis. 

He said on the 21st of last month, a Police Highway team intercepted a Mercedes Benz Sprinter on the Kumasi-Obuasi road and a search conducted on the vehicle revealed the dried leaves, which was traced to Boafo who was on board the said vehicle.
