FOUR NDC ASPIRANTS DISQUALIFIED, THREE CONSTITUENCIES OUTSTANDING

Four out of the 97 aspiring parliamentary candidates of the NDC in the Ashanti have been disqualified from contesting in the actual contest scheduled for November 7.

They are Jerry John Appiah of Adansi Fomena who incidentally was the party’s Parliamentary candidate in 2012, Kwasi Dumaga of Sekyere Afram Plains, Jude Atuahene of Asante Akyem Central and Bashiru Amissah of Manhyia North.

Their disqualification stemmed from varied reasons including forged signatures and alleged misappropriation of party funds.

The National Communications Officer of the NDC, Solomon Nkansah who disclosed this to newsmen in Kumasi after the completion of the vetting of the aspirants in the Ashanti region yesterday, said vetting of aspirants from three Constituencies in the region has been put on hold.

These Constituencies are Suame, Subin and Asante Akyem North.

Mr. Nkansah explained that the decision to suspend vetting of aspirants from those constituencies is as a result of new varied developments relating to the contests in those areas and that the party wants to ensure that its final decision does not cause any problem among the rank and file of the party in the Constituencies.

He disclosed that all the 14 women aspirants went through the vetting process successfully, while the unopposed candidates have also been cleared to contest.
Mr. Nkansah noted that the Ahafo Ano North Constituency Secretary, Richard Mensah who stepped down to contest the sitting MP has been asked to re-take up his former position to help the party in that Constituency.

Meanwhile, the National Communications Officer has assured of the resolve of the party to continuously work closely with the media in the Ashanti region.

Mr. Nkansah however asked the media not to take an entrenched position against the party but be guided by professionalism and fairness.
