THREE DIE IN KOKODE FIRE OUTBREAK
The Ghana Fire Service insists that three
persons died from last Sunday’s fire outbreak at Agric Kokode, a suburb of
Kumasi.
Two siblings, Michael Owusu Yeboah, eight years old, and Raymond Owusu
Yeboah, aged six, were burnt to death in one of the numerous wooden structures,
while a 64-year old Godwin Attipoe, said to be owner of one the destroyed
structures, died later at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Teaching Hospital Station Officer, D.O. Two, Agyei Fofie made this known to Ashanti Today, in Kumasi.
According to D.O. Fofie, in whose jurisdiction
the accident occurred, the fire outbreak also led to the destruction of 15
wooden structures, two metal containers and their contents as well as the destruction
of a saloon car.
So far, both the owners of the filling station and driver of
the tanker which caused the accident have still not been found, whether alive
or dead.
The Fire Officer explained that at about 6.37 pm last Sunday, a fuel
tanker with registration number AS 6633-13, belonging to Can Royal Oil marketing
company was discharging its load at a fuel filling station at Agric Kokode in
Kumasi.
It was while the fuel was being discharged into the underground tank of
the filing station that the fire outbreak occurred. D.O. Fofie could however
not tell what really caused the fire and assured that investigation has started
to ascertain the actual cause the of the accident.
He asked also the station
owner and driver of the fuel tanker to report themselves to the Police or the
Ghana Fire Service in their own interest, to assist in the investigation.
