ALL SET FOR NPP CONGRESS

Everything is set for this year’s Ashanti regional Delegates Congress of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, to take place tomorrow, Saturday April 21.

 The Congress, to be held at Ejura in the Ejura-Sekyedumase Constituency, is to elect new Regional Executives to manage the party in the next four years.

 Speaking to Ashanti Today in Kumasi, the Regional Communications Director of the NPP, Akwasi Kyei, said the Congress will be made up of all Executives from the 47 Constituencies, Founding Members, the current Regional Executives, the 44 Members of Parliament among other party loyalists. 

Mr. Kyei said so far, vetting of all aspirants has been successfully conducted without any disqualification saying that the conduct of their respective campaigns has been decorous so far without any cause for worry. 

The Regional Communications Director said, apart from the position of the Regional Chairman which being contested by only the incumbent, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, all the other Executive slots are being contested for by at least two aspirants. 

He expressed satisfaction with every aspect of the preparation so far. 

These include security and grounds while the Electoral Commission which is to conduct the election has indicated its readiness to supervise the process. 

Mr. Kyei noted that some of the National Executives of the party are expected to also be present to monitor the conduct of affairs and expressed optimism that the participants will conduct themselves in an acceptable manner for the event to be peaceful and successful.

THE STATE OF KUMASI'S 'INDUSTRIAL AREA

The once Industrial enclave of the Ashanti region within the Kumasi metropolis is fast losing its status as the nerve centre of jobs for the people.     This is due to the collapse of most of the companies in quick succession in  the last few years for various reasons. Background Industrialization was a key component of the first wholly indigenous government of Ghana led by Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. KWAMANG SHS NEEDS URGENT HELP

New Campus of the Kwamang Presby SHS The Kwamang Presby Senior High/Technical School in the Sekyere Central district of Ashanti needs an urgent external intervention to address some of its pressing basic needs to function very well.  A visit by Ashanti Today to the school’s premises revealed that the school does not have an administrative block to administer affairs of the school for which reason the Headmistress, the Bursar and another staff are sharing one room which has been partitioned, while the Assistant Headmaster, the rest of the Accounts staff among other administrative officers are also working from an improvised classroom.
