OHEMENG WAS MURDERED-AUTOPSY REPORT
An autopsy conducted on the body of the 45-year old Akwasi Ohemeng, a royal of Besease in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality of Ashanti region has revealed that Ohemeng died of three main causes including Haemorrhagic shock or excessive bleeding.
The Post-Mortem, which was carried
out on the 3rd of this month at the Emena Hospital Mortuary, was
conducted by a Pathologist from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The Autopsy
Report, a copy of which has been intercepted by Ashanti Today, has
identified that Ohemeng died also from mass haemoperineum or accumulation of
blood in the abdomen as well as of traumatic rupture of the right kidney which
otherwise means that his right kidney got burst.
The Report concluded
emphatically that Ohemeng died out of unnatural causes and has therefore been
communicated to the Ashanti regional C.I.D. to help in their investigation to
unravel the actual circumstances surrounding the death of the 45-year old man.
Akwasi Ohemeng was alleged to have been clubbed to unconsciousness in the house
of the chief of Besease on Christmas day during a scuffle with some opinion
leaders of the town, over a tree he had reportedly felled at the public cemetery
for sale.
About seven persons including the chief of Besease, Nana Akwasi
Akyampong, were arrested by the Ejisu Police.
However, five of them, including
Nana Akwasi Akyampong, were later released on bail, while two have been
remanded into Police custody by an Asokwa District Court pending Police
investigations into the matter.
At the maiden hearing of the case, the
Magistrate, Owusu Achiaw Korkor, refused an application for bail by Counsel for
the accused on grounds that the recent Supreme Court annulment of part of the
Criminal Offences Code relating to bail for all offences does not cover the
District and Family Courts and therefore asked the Counsel to seek the bail at
the High Court.
The two being held in connection with the suspected murder of
Akwasi Ohemeng are Kwaku Asamoah, said to be the Gyasehene, and Unit Committee
Chairman of the town, Kwaku Amoah.
The case is due for a second hearing on the
12th of this month.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased are up in arms with the Police for trying to let off Nana Akwasi Akampong whom they claim cannot be implicated in the suspected murder case.
The family alleges that the whole drama surrounding the physical attack of their their deceased relative was initiated by the chief while the assault on him was done right before him.
He can therefore not escape from the law based on their circumstantial proof.
At the premises of the Asokwa District Court during the first hearing to secure a Bill of Indictment for the murder trial of the suspects, the family members present fumed with rage over what was contained in the Charge Sheet suggesting that their late beloved was only hit on the arm with a stick, which Counsel for the suspects argued meant there was no pre-meditation to kill Ohemeng hence pleaded for bail for the two suspects.
