LOW PUBLIC AWARENESS ABOUT PRESIDENT'S LAST STATE OF NATION'S ADDRESS

President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to deliver his last State of the Nation’s Address to Parliament tomorrow, Thursday January 5, 2017, before he eventually leaves office on Saturday.

However, an opinion survey conducted by Ashanti Today in Kumasi showed that there is a very low public awareness about this all important national event.

While some of the respondents appeared confused about the State of the Nation’s Address by the out-going President with that of the Induction of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Saturday, others had no idea at all about tomorrow’s event in Parliament.

However, when they were told by our Correspondent of tomorrow’s programme in Parliament, the respondents expressed various expectations.

Some of them expected President Mahama to announce a last minute upward adjustment in the wages of public sector workers.

Another group also expect the out-going President to bring to the fore the real state of affairs of Ghana at the time he is leaving office, highlighting his government’s achievements and challenges.

Other respondents also expressed the wish that President Mahama would assure the country of his continuous commitment to the sustenance of national peace and stability as he leaves office.
