NPP, NDC TO ATTEND SWEARING-IN
The
Ashanti regional office of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, says most members of
the regional leadership will travel to Accra to witness the swearing-in and
inauguration of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Alhaji Dr. Muhamadu Bawumia as
the new President and Vice President of Ghana.
However, what is yet to be
concluded is whether or not the party will organize buses to transport a
section of its supporters to Accra for the event. The Ashanti Regional
Secretary of the NPP, Sam Pyne, made this known to Ashanti Today in
Kumasi.
The Regional Secretary noted however, that some groups affiliated to
the party will organize people to also witness the inauguration of the
President-elect and his Vice.
Mr. Pyne said the leadership of the party will
not put impediments in the way of groups or individuals who intend to travel
for the national event.
Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Women Organizer of the
NDC, Hajia Sadique, has also disclosed that the party will send a delegation
from the region to Accra not only witness the swearing-in of the new President
and his Vice, but to also support President John Dramani Mahama, who was the
leader and Flagbearer of the NDC during last month’s Presidential elections.
She explained that the decision is also to show that the NDC still supports Mr.
Mahama even as he hands over political power to another person.
In a related development,
GBC’s Garden City Radio has learnt that a private event organizer will organize
a Victory Jamboree at Lake Bosomtwe at Abono in the Bosomtwe district of
Ashanti on Sunday as part of activities commemorating the swearing in of Nana
Akufo-Addo.
