10 INJURED, 26 VEHICLES DESTROYED IN NEW TAFO GAS EXPLOSION


Three out of the 10 persons who sustained injuries at the gas explosion at Krofrom in the newly created Tafo Municipality of the Ashanti region today, Tuesday Nov. 20, are still in critical condition and on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital receiving emergency medical care. Two others in a relatively stable condition are also on admission at the Tafo Government Hospital. Five others have however been treated and discharged from the hospital. 

The Ashanti Regional Commander of the Fire Service, Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Joshua Nguah disclosed this in an interview with Ashanti Today in Kumasi. The Regional Fire Commander disclosed also, that a total of 26 vehicles aside from many other properties were destroyed by the wildfire.
'We dispatched five fire engines and when we got there, the infirno was good', the Regional Fire Commander noted.

ACFO Nguah urged people to be very careful when handling gas in view of the high risk involved. 'Gas is friendly but very dangerous. The slightest spark could cause a serious problem....where you are, please adhere to safety measures', ACFO Nguah cautioned. 

Meanwhile, investigations to unravel actual cause of the fire outbreak is underway and according to the Regional Fire Commander, the finding are expected 'in a day or two'.
