38 PASS OUT FROM GBC
Christians
particularly preachers and church leaders have been reminded of their obligations
to inspire the followers to unite and live pure lives worthy of their affiliation
with Jesus Christ who is the focus of their worship. To this end, they must not
only unite but also encourage their members to be tolerant of divergent views
including criticisms, showing love to all and forgiving one another of their transgressions.
The Minister in charge of the Nsawam Road Church of Christ in Accra, Evangelist
George Asah, gave the advice in Kumasi at the 49th annual graduation
and thanksgiving service of the Ghana Bible College.
The service was used to
send off 38 students of the College who had completed two years of theological
courses in Sacred Ministry, Bible and Christian Ministry after which they also
undertook six months of intensive mentorship at various congregations of the Church
of Christ.
The service was on the theme: “Purity and Unity; A Hallmark for Maturity”.
Evangelist Asah expressed reservations about perceived disunity among
individual members and various congregations of the Church in Ghana based on
factors such as lack of forgiveness, self- centeredness and uncontrolled individual
difference.
He however, advised the new preachers to show maturity and good
leadership at their duty posts while shunning worldliness in other to remain
focused on their divine calling.
The Principal of the Ghana of the Ghana Bible
College, Emmanuel Antwi said the College’s students population has seen a
remarkable increase following the creation of outreach campuses in the Brong
Ahafo and other parts of the Asante region to make the College accessible to
all.
The Principal described dwindling funding as the major and imminent threat
to sustainability of the College following the inability of its major
financiers to withdraw their support henceforth. Mr. Antwi therefore appealed
to the local congregations and individual members to take up the challenge of
resourcing the school.
