FOUR INTERCHANGES FOR KSI



President Akufo-Addo is scheduled to cut sod for work to start on the Kumasi Road Facelift Project this month to substantially improve on the road network of the metropolis. 

Inherent in the Project are four interchanges earmarked for construction at the Anloga Junction, Airport Roundabout, Suame Roundabout and the Santasi Roundabout to ease the heavy vehicular traffic popular with those intersections. 

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei Mensah, made this known in Kumasi at the first Meeting of the Regional Coordinating Council.

 The Meeting was attended by Heads of decentralized state agencies and Departments, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives and their respective Presiding Members from all the old 30 MMDAs with the Regional Minister and Regional Coordinating Director as the Chairman and Secretary respectively. 

A Magistrate, Mr. Peter Oppong Boahene used the occasion to lead newly elected Presiding Members to swear the Official Oath, Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of a Member. 

The Regional Minister gave a report of happenings within the region in the last one year touching on issues such as agricultural production, the free secondary education policy, revenue generation performances of the MMDAs, health, environment and sanitation and the creation of 13 new MMDAs. 

On the security situation, Mr. Osei Mensah noted that, despite recent breaches of the peace architecture in the region resulting the loss of lives at Ahwiaa in the Kwabre East Municipality and Foase in the Atwima Kwanwoma district, there is relative peace in the region. 

On the implementation of the government’s flagship programme of free secondary education, the Regional Minister said government has learnt useful lessons from the teething challenges and that strategies have been mapped out to improve it as schools are getting ready to enroll the second batch of student beneficiaries of the policy.
