GO AND RE-REGISTER-NCCE URGES NHIS CARD HOLDERS


The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education NCCE, Alhassan Yakubu has also call on National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS card holders whose names have been deleted from the Voters register to take advantage of the lifeline offered them by the Electoral Commission to re-register to get their names onto the voters register. 

He also cautioned the youth not to allow themselves to be used to foment troubles or as paid thugs by politicians to attack their opponents before, during and after the 2016 elections. 

Mr. Yakubu expressed these sentiments during a one-day engagement on non-violent response to conflict which was organized by the Commission as part of its effort to help bring lasting peace to Tafo in the Kumasi Metropolis and its environs. 

 The forum, which brought together various key stakeholders including, the youth, traditional leaders, representatives of churches and civil society organizations, to address issues that have tendency to mar the peaceful co-existence among youth in the area.

Mr. Yakubu encouraged Ghanaian women to be at the forefront of public education for a peaceful elections as well as the citizens’ active involvement in the electoral processes. 

The Executive Secretary of the Ashanti branch of the National Peace Council, Reverend Badu Amoah, appealed to the Youth of Tafo to endeavour to use appropriate channel to address their grievances for peace to prevail in the area.
