'92 YR GROUP SUPPORTS BEKWAI SHS
The 1992 Year
Group of the Bekwai Adventist Senior High School at Bekwai in the Ashanti
region has presented 100 bags of cement to the school after one of the
school’s dormitories got burnt a month ago.
The wildfire destroyed the Nana Ameyaw boys’ dormitory Block ‘B’ forcing
the relocation of all the 54 resident students. They are currently housed in
classrooms pending the construction of a permanent dormitory block.
The fire
also destroyed some of the personal effects and learning materials of the
students. Making the presentation on behalf of the Group, Felix Asrachie
Baidoo, who is also a Correspondent of the Daily Graphic in the Ashanti
region, urged authorities of the school to monitor the handling and usage of
mobile phones by the students, since apart from wasting their time it could
also lead to indulging in social vices.
He appealed to the school authorities
to ensure that the cement was put to good use to merit the purpose for which
they were brought to the school.
Mr. Baidoo also cautioned the students
against the negative effects of social media which if not properly managed,
could derail their academic fortunes and render them redundant in future.
They
should rather channel their energies in reading their books to enable them
pass their courses of study.
Baidoo on behalf of the group pledged to
continue supporting the school when the need arose and urged the school’s
authorities to put the cement to the purpose for which they have been donated.
The Headmaster of the school, George Oduro-Yeboah,
said around 8.40 p.m of January 27, this year, while the
students were studying in their classrooms, a resident on campus raised the
alarm about the fire.
Mr. Oduro-Yeboah thanked the old students for their support
to the school in this critical time and assured that the cement will be used
for the intended use.
