FMR ASH REG'L MINISTER LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN FOR NHYIAESO SEAT
The Ashanti Regional Minister, John Alexander Ackon has made a case to residents of Nhyiaeso constituency in Kumasi explaining why the NDC Parliamentary candidate for the area, Dr. Samuel Sarpong deserves to be given the mandate to represent them in Parliament in the December 7 general elections.
Speaking at the launch of Dr. Sarpong’s election
campaign at Patasi, Mr. Ackon said with the unprecedented developmental
projects by President Mahama coupled with what Dr. Sarpong had also achieved as
a former Ashanti Regional Minister and former Chief Executive of the Kumasi
Metropolitan Assembly, the work had been made easy and that the seat is Dr.
Sarpong’s to win.
Mr. Ackon described as not sustainable, the claim by the New
Patriotic Party that Ashanti Region and the Nhyiaeso Constituency were their
stronghold and that the NDC would take it with ease.
Dr. Sarpong for his part, stated
that he would spring a surprise by winning the Nhyiaeso parliamentary seat. He
explained that as a political strategist, he believed that the days when people
in the constituency voted for the NPP irrespective of the candidate they
brought forward was long gone.
Dr. Sarpong said with his entry, the dynamics
had changed, with the people looking for who could lead them to address the
challenges facing the constituency.
He said with his track record as a hard
working, development-oriented and a unifier which could easily be ascertained
from where he had worked so far, including his current position as the Chief
Executive of the State Housing Company of Ghana, is unparalleled.
Dr. Sarpong
said he is therefore not surprised that his campaign is attracting a lot of
supporters from the NPP. Inaugurating the 11- member Nhyiaeso Constituency
Campaign Team, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Andy Okrah, who is also
the NDC Regional Campaign Coordinator, said President Mahama is better placed
among the other presidential candidates to lead the country.
He said President
Mahama has a proven track record and experience both as President and
Vice-President of Ghana.
Mr. Okrah was optimistic that the track record of the
Mahama-led administration in delivering on most of its promises would reflect
positively on the outcome of the December 7 elections.
