24 PC ASPIRANTS DISQUALIFIED IN ASHANTI

The Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Serebour Quarcoo, has told Ashanti Today in Kumasi that 24 out of the 240 persons who filed Nominations to contest in the December 7 Parliamentary elections in the region have been disqualified from the race.

This follows their inability to complete their forms. According to Mr. Serebuor however, all the major political parties have had their candidates sailing through the processes successfully.

The lucky parties are the CPP, NPP, NDC, PPP and the PNC as well as some of the Independent candidates.

The Regional EC Director explained that the major factor that disqualified the aspirants involved was their inability to pay the stipulated Filing Fee of 10 thousand Ghana Cedis.

The latest development therefore reduces the initial number of aspirants from 240 to 216.

He said the next stage of the election processes will be the publication of nominees to be followed by balloting for positions on the Ballot Papers by the candidates.
