WORLD VISSION SUPLIES MEDICAL SUPPLIES TO HEALTH FACILITIES IN ASHANTI
World Vision Ghana has handed over
medical supplies valued at about 111 thousand Dollars to the Sekyere East
District Directorate of the Ghana Health Service for distribution to four
health facilities in the district.
The beneficiary facilities are Akokuaso,
Okaikrom, Nkwankwannua health centres and the Ahwerewa CHPS Compound.
The
medical supplies are made up of surgical kits, anaesthesia instrument and
appliances, surgical gloves, sanitary sheets, soap and children’s toys.
They
were procured through World Vision’s Gift-In-Kind programme.
At a ceremony to
present the items at Effiduase, the Kumasi Operation Base Team Leader of World
Vision Ghana, John Yankson explained that through the Gifts-In-Kind donations
in the form of medical supplies and equipment, basic educational materials and
books, World Vision supports partners including the Ghana Health Service and
Ghana Education Service to improve the quality of health and education for
children’ living in deprived districts.
He said a priority of the organization
is to ensure that children and their care givers access essential health
services.
As a result, World Vision will work with stakeholders to improve the
quality of health outcomes among children and ultimately ensure their
well-being including the most vulnerable.
The Sekyere East Area Development
Programme Manager of World Vision, Madam Anna Nabere said in the last three
years, World Vision has invested over one-point-five million Dollars on
projects in health and education to improve the well-being of children in the
Sekyere East Operational area.
Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiary
health facilities, the District Director of Health Services, Madam Dorothy
Afuakwa thanked World Vision for its continued support, adding that the latest
donation will go a long way to improve health delivery in the district.
The
District Chief Executive, Solomon Adei Mensah acknowledged the contribution of
World Vision in the district, describing the organization as one the Assembly’s
major development partners.
